I was really shocked when I heard the news of Michael Jackson's passing. I had a myriad of emotions when I first heard of the news. First, shock, sadness, disappointment and pity. He was all but 50 only and till date one of the most amazing performers that ever graced the world. He was the biggest selling solo artist in the world. He was undoubtedly very, very talented, had great vision in entertainment and has killer dance moves. He was the man! Who has not tried to copy his dance moves, or attempted to moonwalk, tried to master his fluid movements tossing his bowler hat, or even his signature crotch-grabbing *ahem* signature move?
Well, most of all, I'm just disappointed at how people treated him with prejudice just because he was different from others. I'm glad I've never judged him for any of his actions. I believe he had a pure heart and his flaw was that he was just different. He never had a normal childhood and nobody knows what he has gone through in his life. But people are quick to jump in to criticize him, to milk him off his money and just capitalizing on his vulnerability. I'm not trying to preach nor defend, but that's what I really think how all the controversies surrounding him started. I still believe MJ was innocent. He merely missed his entire childhood and longed for one. He finds comfort being around children. (And for you cynics, don't jump on my choice of words) He lived till 50 but he was always really 10. He never really could adjust to living as an adult. If people could accept Peter Pan as not sleazy why not MJ? MJ just had the Peter Pan syndrome.
His song entitled 'Childhood' was very much overlooked compared to his other more popular tracks. But this track is what MJ was trying to tell the world. The lyrics are heartbreaking and so pure and genuine. He was trying to pour his heart out to the world, but sadly, it didn't really take off. Listen to the song and you'll realise it was a plea, a cry of help to understand him. So heartbreaking. Everytime when I listen to the song, I could almost hear singing about his sadness. I'm doing this little bit for MJ and may he rest in peace and find his own Never-never-land!
